Relay For Life event right around the corner

‘Bank night’ Thursday; survivors’ dinner set Monday at St. John’s

Milam County’s Relay For Life event is set for Friday, May 18 at Rockdale High School’s Tiger Field, but there are important dates to remember before the big one, event chair Kim Jeter has announced.

The last team captain meeting and “bank night” for Relay is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, May 10 at the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department station.

“This will also be our bank night for all teams to come and turn in any money that they’ve raised up until this point,” Jeter said.

The annual survivors dinner will be held Monday, May 14 at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale. Sign in starts at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6.

On Relay night, teams will be allowed to set up starting at 3 p.m. with all teams set up no later than 5:45 p.m.

“Opening Ceremonies and our Survivor Lap will begin promptly at 6,” Jeter said. “Luminary Ceremony will be at 9 p.m. This year the silent auction will close at 10 p.m. rather than midnight and the teams will have on site f und-raisers so please come out and support this wonderful cause.”

Tickets for a Relay T-shirt quilt will be available through May 18 and are $1 each or six for $5.

There are several Adult XLarge and XXL shirts left from the “Paint Milam County Purple” campaign that are available for $15 each.
