Energy Star tax holday set for Memorial Day weekend
AUSTIN—Texans can soon save a few bucks on energy-efficient appliances. The state’s annual ENERGY STAR Sales Tax Holiday will be held Saturday through Monday on Memorial Day weekend, May 26-28.
Texas Comptroller Susan Combs says shoppers can actually save twice by not having to pay sales tax on appliances and by saving money on their utility bills.
The sales tax break applies to ENERGY STAR qualified air conditioners priced six-thousand dollars or less and refrigerators priced at twothousand dollars or less.
Ceiling fans, fluorescent light bulbs, clothes washers, dishwashers and programmable thermostats are also included.
