FIRE HAZARD?

FIRE HAZARD?—Tuesday was former Rockdale mayor Bill Avrett’s 80th birthday and his fellow Rotary Club members arranged a surprise presentation during the club’s weekly luncheon meeting. A birthday cake with candles gleaming was delivered by two members of the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department, Brady Nelson Jr. (left) and Warren Matous. “You need firemen around with that much of a fire,” Rotary president Gaye Bland noted. Avrett was also presented with birthday cards from members, along with gifts from the club. Lee Jenkins made the presentations.
