Olympic swimmer to speak on Friday
Patrick David is valedictorian and Victoria Drake salutatorian of the 124-candidate Rockdale High School graduating class of 2012.
Commencement exercises, w ith featured speaker, Olympic swimmer Josh Davis, begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Tiger Field, according to RHS Principal Joey Geletka. In the event of bad weather the ceremony will be moved indoors to the RHS gym. Full Story

5th graders 'walk through' U.S. history
Hundreds fill intermediate for tradition
“History” was made Thursday in the intermediate cafetorium as about 500 persons (half of them parents and family members) gathered for the fifth grade’s annual end-ofschool tradition the Walk Through History play.
The play was written about 15 years ago by fifth-grade teacher Sandra Burrough but periodic upgrades have been made through the years. Full Story

Milam jobless rate sliding down
Unemployment rates also down around area
Milam County’s number is dropping, but when it comes to unemployment numbers, that is a good thing. The county’s unemployment rate is down to 7.5 percent according to numbers released by the Texas Workforce Commission last week. Full Story

Thorndale Chamber names award winners
The Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce honored their Outstanding Citizens for 2011 at their annual awards open house on Monday at the TACC building in downtown Thorndale.
