Rockdale ISD offers up plenty for kids in summer

Miller Miller If you are looking for something to keep you busy during the summer months, the Rockdale athletic department has plenty to keep you occupied.

Come join the Tiger staff for four days of fun, competition and learning from June 4-28.

Athletic Director Jeff Miller and his staff are eager to meet the future of the Rockdale athletic program.

“Our annual sports camps provide an important building block for the championship level teams we are creating here in Rockdale,” Miller said. “We are hoping to prepare the younger kids for the junior high athletic program and the older kids for the high school athletic program.

“The camps are also a great way for the kids to get to know the coaches that will be in charge of their high school sports careers. We look forward to working with your children.”

Instruction in softball, basketball and volleyball for girls and baseball, basketball and football for boys will be offered for students from third grade to ninth grade.

Camp instructors will be members of the Rockdale coaching staff. The objective of the camp is to provide professional instruction on the fundamental skills necessary for the sports involved.

Campers will need to wear comfortable T-shirts, shorts or sweats and athletic shoes to camp each day.

Cleats are optional for baseball, football and softball camps, but will not be allowed in the gym.

Because of a grant, all camps are free this summer.

Applications can be picked up at the athletic office and for more information, contact Miller at 430-6150 or jmiller @rockdaleisd.net.
