Hey, Milam County, how about two more months of the sheriff’s race?
That’s what voters delivered Tuesday, with incumbent David Greene falling about 100 votes short of 50 percent in the Republican Primary, throwing him into a July 31 runoff with runner-up Greg Kouba.
Greene polled 1,562 votes (49.03 percent) to 1,063 (33.36 percent) for Kouba. Full Story

Davis said his first swimming coach told him that he would never succeed in competitive swimming.

Win at Navasota sends Blue to state tournament
NAVASOTA—With just one more tournament left on the spring schedule, the Rockdale 7-on-7 team went ahead and qualified for the state tournament, putting such petty annoyances behind them.
In the second-to-last tournament, Rockdale earned a trip to state by bashing Bremond 39-17 at Rattler Field in pool play scenario.

State office sets limited amnesty tax program
AUSTIN—Need a fresh start? You do if you find yourself with past-due reports and delinquent taxes or fees. From June 12 through August 17, 2012, the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Susan Combs will waive penalties and interest for businesses that file delinquent tax reports and pay all taxes due or amend reports that underreported taxes and pay the taxes due.
