Irwin inducted into HPU’s Sigma Beta Delta

BROWNWOOD — Brandon Ir win of Thorndale, a May 2012 graduate at Howard Payne University, was one of four H PU students recently inducted into the Sigma Beta Delta International Business Honor Society.

The ceremony was held on April 17 in the Bullion Suites at HPU’s Mabee University Center.

“The 2012 Sigma Beta Delta inductees have proven themselves worthy of this honor both in and out of the classroom,” said Dr. Les Plagens, dean of HPU’s School of Business. “Each has demonstrated outstanding academic performance as well as exemplary leadership on our campus.”

Sigma Beta Delta was founded as a national organization in 1994 for NCAA Division III universities and is accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education. HPU’s chapter received its charter in 1999.

Ir win is the son of Mar ty and Stacy Irwin.

Locals on Midwestern St. spring honor lists

WICHITA FALLS—Midwestern State University recognized 886 honor students for the Spring 2012 semester. The President’s Honor Roll included 289 students, the Provost’s Honor Roll included 261 students and the Dean’s Honor Roll included 336 students.

Joseph Sanders of Rockdale and Lacy Talley of Buckholts earned spots on the Provost’s Honor Roll for the Spring 2012 semester.

A student who completes a semester schedule of at least 12 semester hours in one semester with a GPA of 3.75 to 3.99 and no grade lower than C will be included on the Provost’s Honor Roll.

Casterdary Washington of Milano earned a spot on the Dean’s Honor Roll.

A student who completes a semester schedule of at least 12 semester hours in one semester with a GPA of 3.50 to 3.74 and no grade lower than C will be included on the Dean’s Honor Roll.

Rah-Rah mini cheer camp set June 4-6

The Rockdale JV cheerleaders for the 2012-13 school year will host a rah rah mini cheer camp June 4-6 at the RHS Gym, spokesperson Tina Barcak announced.

The camp will run from 10 a.m. to noon each day for Pre-K through sixth graders interested in attending. Cost is $30 and includes a T-shirt and pre-game performance during a 2012 Tiger football game.

The camp’s parent performance is set for 11 a.m. June 6. Retired cheer uniforms may also be purchased.

RHS iTigers clothing giveaway set June 7

Rockdale High School iTigers will have a clothing giveaway on Thursday, June 7 at the high school, RHS ACE coordinator Denice Doss announced.

The giveaway will run from 4- 6 pm. Clothing, household items, jewelry and more will be available to give away. Items are free to the public and anyone is invited to come, Doss said.

“Also if you would like to donate to the giveaway those items can be brought to the high school on June 7,” she said. Volunteers are needed to help set up the items.
