Milano scholarships total over $148,000

Reporter/Holly Jentsch MIL A NO – Graduates were awarded $148,063 in scholarships and awards at Milano High School commencement ceremonies held at Pruett Field on Friday night.

The 33-member Class of 2012 heard speeches from valedictorian John Charles Jentsch and salutatorian Hunter Lee Gage and were presented their diplomas by board trustee president Edward Westbrook.

Scholarships awarded to graduates included:

Millsaps College Second Cent ur y Scholarship—Elisabet h Thomason ($84,000).

Jonat han M. Sweat Music Endowment Scholarship–Elisabeth Thomason ($12,000).

Charlie Martin/Milano Alumni Association—Brandon Garza, Lyndsie Gray ($1,000 each).

Addie Belle “Tizy” Swenson Memor ia l–Hunter Gage ($1,000).

Knights of Columbus Scholarship— Elizabeth Serna ($1,000).

Milano Opry–Elizabeth Bradshaw, Dylan Eastland, Mar y Evans ($1,000 each).

Milano Evening Lions Club —Desiree Adrian, Hunter Gage ($1,000).

Milano Masonic Lodge 605 AF&AM—Desiree Adrian, Kaitlynn Dees, Elisabeth Thomason ($1,000 each).

Geneva Paceley Memorial–Desiree Adrian, Kaitlynn Dees ($500 each).

Louise Hale Sessions Memorial Scholarship—Elisabeth Thomason ($500).

Milano Athletic Booster Club— Desiree Adrian, Brittany Barnett, Lyndsie Gray, John Jentsch ($500 each).

Music Club of Temple-Ann Chamlee Scholarship—Elisabeth Thomason ($500).

Student Council Scholarship— Desiree Adrian, Hunter Gage, Lyndsie Gray ($450 each).

Owen & Dorothy Knight Memorial Scholarship—Desiree Adrian, Hunter Gage ($250 each).

Texas A&M University Mom’s Club—John Jentsch ($250).

Gause Community Improvement Program—Lyndsie Gray, John Jentsch ($200 each).

National Honor Society Scholarship— Desiree Adrian, Hunter Gage, Lyndsie Gray, John Jentsch ($150 each); Dylan Eastland, Elizabeth Serna, Elisabeth Thomason ($100 each).

Milam County Farm Bureau— John Jentsch ($100).

State Farm Texas Scholar Award—John Jentsch (honorable mention).
