Family thanks RVFD, community for actions

Dear editor,

We would like to thank the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department, American Medical Response, and the medical personnel operating St. Joseph’s helicopter for their tireless rescue efforts following the tragic collision on FM 908 (see page 1A).

That Suburban was full of people we love dearly and we could have lost them all.

So many people have helped us along the way with prayer, food, offers of help, and support that it is impossible to thank them all without writing a dissertation.

I can’t speak to the support of all communities because Rockdale is the only one I have ever lived in. I can tell you that this one takes care of its own.

You don’t have to call. You don’t have to ask. When you need help, they know it and they line up for marching orders on where to start first.

It is a humbling experience to be the recipient of such an outpouring of love and support.

I don’t know how we would have gotten through this without everyone who rallied around us during this crisis.

We are so very thankful to God for the blessings we have received and can’t put into words how appreciative we are of the help we’ve gotten from everyone.

Our daughter continues to get a little better each day and each of those days is a treasure to us.

Jody, Kathy, and Joshua Pelzel
