Trustees hire search firm, name interim superintendent
School board members hired Education Solutions and Ser v ices, Inc. of New Braunfels as the firm to help in the hiring process of a new superintendent at a special April 24 school board meeting.
That company’s associate, Dr. Letha Hopkins was named the district’s interim superintendent at a May 17 special board meeting.
“ The board is mot ivated,” Hopkins said. “They will hold interviews during June and hope to have a finalist named by the end of June or early July.”
This all comes after Lindy Robinson, who had been in Milano’s top job for the past six years, accepted the same post at Class A Rotan in West Texas. Robinson resigned from her post at a Jan. 26 board meeting effective at the end of her contract which went to June 2014.
Robinson was formally hired for the Rotan job on April 18 and her resignation at Milano was effective June 1. Her resignation was accepted at the April 19 board meeting.
Milano trusteees was to meet Wednesday, June 6 to review superintendent applications.
HOPKINS— Dr. Hopkins retired from public education after 35 years as a teacher, librarian, campus administrator and superintendent. She has served in rural and suburban districts with diverse student populations and economic circumstances.
Dr. Hopkins is certified in the State of Texas as a school superintendent, mid-management administrator, librarian, secondary Spanish and history. She earned her Ed. D. in Educational Administration from Baylor University. She holds a Master of Library Science from North Texas. In addition, she holds a Master of Education and a Bachelor of Arts from Stephen F. Austin University.
