Residents must own, drive new vision for town

“G ood business leaders create a vision, articulate the vision, passionately own the vision and relentlessly drive it to completion.”— Jack Welch

So this quote is for those of us that were involved in the city vision meeting, “Rockdale in 2022.” We are creating and articulating a vision at this moment. Then we, as a community, must decide to own it and relentlessly drive it to completion. That will take all of us. Jump on board and be a part of something great.

FAN DRIVE—The Chamber is having a fan drive right now. We have already had several families needing a fan. I would ask that each of you that read my article bring in either a fan or a $20 bill so we can supply our needy families with some relief in what will be another very hot summer.

Thank you to all that have brought in money and fans so far. If you haven’t, please stop by this week as it is getting hot very fast these days. I thank you in advance for your help.

MEMBERSHIP—If you are a business or an individual who is not a member of the chamber but would like to be, please call me at 512-446-2030 and let me show you the benefits of being a chamber member.

THURSDAY MIXER—The Chamber will be having its June mixer from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, June 14 at Manor Oaks. Please come and socialize with all your fellow chamber members.

SUMMER EXPLOSION— The second annual Summer Explosion Auto & Bike Show will be Saturday, June 16 at Meadowbrook Baptist Church. There will be music, games, food and fun. Registration will be from 8–10 a.m. with the show taking place in the Meadowbrook parking lot from until 1 p.m. Awards are set for 12:30 p.m.

Registration is $10 on day of show per entry. For more information contact Kevin Starr at 512-760-0166 or Ryan Warner at 979-571-0800.

OUTDOOR EXPO—The Chamber is gearing up for their second annual Central Texas Hunting and Outdoor Expo which will be held Sept. 21-22. We are so excited that our feature band this year will be the famous, “Little Texas.” You will not want to miss this event. We are taking applications for vendors and barbecue teams. So get your spot asap. I will also be coming to see many of my business owners for sponsorships. We expect huge crowds so I know we are all looking forward to that.

I hope you all have a great week.
