Locals named to TSTC President’s Honor Roll

WACO— Several local residents have been named to the President’s Honor Roll at Texas State Technical College for the spring 2012 semester.

Justin Hromcik, Tyler Kaatz, Terr y Mitchell, Greg Wagner and Christopher Yanes, all of Rockdale, were all named to the honor list.

Students on the President’s Honor Roll are among those recognized with a scholastic achievement of a 4.0 grade point average for the semester.

Hromcik is majoring in aviation maintenance technology; Wagner is studying air conditiioning and refrigeration technology; and Kaatz, Mitchell and Yanes are all students in welding technology.

Area residents on UMHB honor rolls

BELTON—Two area residents have been named to honor lists at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor for the spring 2012 semester.

Hillary Patiene Salazar, of Lexington, was named to the Provost Honor Roll.

To receive this recognition a student must achieve a 3.85 grade point average (GPA) or better on a 4.0 scale.

Maia Bayens Richter, of Thorndale, was named to the Dean’s Honor Roll.

To receive this recognition, a student must achieve a GPA between 3.5 and 3.849.

Out-of-school TAKS Exit test offered at RHS

Rockdale High School will offer the TAKS Exit Level Exams in July 2012 for Out-of-School (OOS) examinees, Lynnette Guerra, RISD testing coordinator, announced. Tests dates are July 9 (ELA), July 10 (Math), July 11 (Science) and July 12 (Social Studies).

“Individuals who are no longer enrolled in school and who have not previously met minimum expectations on all sections of the TAKS test, but who have met all other graduation requirements, may register to retake the necessary sections(s),” Guerra said.

All out-of-school TAKS examinees must complete an online registration process. Out-of-school examinees may register online at www.TexasAssessment.com/ taksoos. Registration is open now through 5 p.m. June 8. All out-ofschool TAKS examinees should notify the high school counselors (512-430-6140) of their intent to test.

On the day(s) of testing, examinees should arrive by 8 a.m. and report to the high school office. Examinees must present picture identification, such as a driver’s license, school ID, DPS ID, etc. to test. Examinees will not be able to take the test(s) without a picture ID, Guerra said.

Summer lists available for AP English classes

All incoming Rockdale High School students who w ill be enrolled in Pre-AP or AP English classes will be expected to complete a summer reading assignment before the beginning of the 2012-13 school year, Paige Garrett, head of the English department at RHS, has announced.
