THRALL—The 49th Stiles Farm Field Day scheduled June 19 will feature presentations on cotton fertility and new technology, plus weed control strategies and pasture recovery from drought.

New, improved record book forms due by June 21
The 4-H record book format has been changed and improved for 2012. The new version is available on the record book website or you can complete a word version. Either format can be used for the 2012 4-H Record Books. Handouts and additional information are available at the Extension Office or on the Milam County 4-H website, http://milam.agrilife.org/. FSA office closures miss Milam County
USDA Texas Farm Service Agency announces effective closing dates for 15 county offices
COLLEGE STATION— On May 29, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack announced the closure of 125 Farm Service Agency (FSA) offices nationwide including 15 county offices in Texas.
Included on the list is Lee C ou nt y (Gidd i ng s), wh ich will close down Sept. 12. Lee County’s new headquarters will move to LaGrange and Fayette County. Full Story

LUBBOCK—Texas corn farmers today joined the growing chorus of critics who are saying the current version of the Senate’s Farm Bill does not give farmers the freedom to choose the risk management tool that fits their operation.
