What? Diet Mt. Dew does not cancel calories?
I have mastered many addictions in my lifetime and I am proud of myself for every one.
However, sugar is kicking my ever-expanding rear-end.
Monday was supposed to be my first day without sugar. And it was...until I went home.
I had casually mentioned to my husband that I wanted to try that new Blue Bell Red Velvet Cake ice cream, before my sugar strike.
But I distinctly said “If you buy some, just get a pint, don’t get the half gallon.”
So in he walks with a half gallon. Then he made an even bigger mistake and said “Like it won’t get eaten.”
Grrrrrr. I made a silent vow. That ice cream would sit in that freezer until hell froze over.
What that really meant was that no one would ever, ever see me eating that ice cream.
Apparently, there are calories in the food that I eat in secret. That is unfortunate.
I am beginning to think that drinking a diet coke with a greasy hamburger doesn’t really cancel out all those calories either.
Monday evening, I was watching the news after work and I hear “Hey Kathy! I’m still in here. Eat me!” Or however ice cream talks. For me, ice cream’s voice sounds a whole lot like Barry White. Smoooooth.
So Monday without sugar quickly became Monday with.
The next day was birthday Tuesday at work. We celebrated Marie’s birthday and in walks Kelley with not one but two desserts. There went Tuesday.
Today is Wednesday. So far, so good. Since it’s only 6:10 a.m. I don’t see this ending well.

Another reason it’s hard to get away from sugar around here is that people are always bringing goodies for the Reporter Gang to eat.
Jo Ann Browning brought in this cake and it was devoured and not just by me. Enjoy!
