Rockdale records first road death inside city limits since 2005
A 20-year-old Killeen man became the first traffic fatality inside the Rockdale city limits in almost seven years late Friday.
Danzell Hickman was pronounced dead on arrival at Richards Memorial Hospital by Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Gary Northcott about 11 p.m., just minutes after a 10:41 p.m. car-truck collision at the US 77-US 79 intersection near the eastern city limits. Full Story

Tigers make room for former offensive coordinator
John Kovar, who resigned as head football coach at Normangee after less than two months on the job, has been rehired by the RISD.

Area jobless numbers rise slightly
State unemployment rate stays steady
Milam County’s labor force rose for the month of May, but unfortunately so did its unemployment rate. The county’s jobless numbers increased to 7.9 percent according to numbers released by the Texas Workforce Commission last week. The rate was 7.5 percent in April. Full Story
