Rockdale records first road death inside city limits since 2005
A 20-year-old Killeen man became the first traffic fatality inside the Rockdale city limits in almost seven years late Friday.
Danzell Hickman was pronounced dead on arrival at Richards Memorial Hospital by Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Gary Northcott about 11 p.m., just minutes after a 10:41 p.m. car-truck collision at the US 77-US 79 intersection near the eastern city limits. Full Story

Milano board members name native Westbrook as lone finalist
Brackett exec chosen over 45 other applicants
MIL A NO— School tr ustees named the lone finalist for the Milano ISD superintendent job on Tuesday night and the name is a familiar one around the south Milam County town.
Robert (Robbie) Westbrook was listed as the board’s top pick for the Class A district’s top job over 45 other applicants. Westbrook is a 1981 MHS graduate. Full Story

T HOR N DA L E—The 22nd annual Thorndale Firemen’s BBQ Cookoff is set for Thursday through Sunday at Thorndale City Park.
The weekend will kick off with the 32nd annual Thorndale Revue at 7 p.m. Thursday in the school cafeteria.
During that event the new Miss Thorndale will be crowned.
