‘Brown Santa’ golf ahead
The second annual Brow n Santa Golf Tourney will be held at t he C ameron C ou ntry Club July 21, according to Sheriff David Greene.
Last year’s tourney drew 94 golfers, over 50 hole sponsors and raised around $5,000 to provide Christmas gifts to 300 children in over 100 families.
Deputy Sheriff John Mendoza said the tourney will begin with shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Format will be a 4-to-6-man scramble. “You don’t have to be in a team to play,” he said. “We are encouraging all interested persons to come out, play and have a great time for a great cause.”
To enter, RSVP to Mendoza at 254-627-1270 or 254-697-7033 with team info and whether a cart will be needed.
“You can also sign up at the Cameron Country Club,” he said.
Deadline to enter is July 14.
Cost is $50 per person, which includes green fees, a goody bag and snacks.
Mendoza said the tourney is also accepting hole sponsorships at $100 per hole.
