Apache Pass open for fireworks use

Even though there is no professional fireworks display in Milam County this Fourth of July, residents with fireworks will have a place to shoot their own.

Apache Pass, seven miles north of Rockdale on FM 908, will be open Wednesday for the use of area residents who need a place to use their fireworks.

Owner Kit Worley said there is no admission charge but donations will be accepted for the Rockdale MARC Center.

In previous years, Citizens National Bank had sponsored free, public fireworks displays, alternating between Rockdale and Cameron. This year would have been Cameron's event.

Nearest fireworks displays Wednesday will be in Taylor's Murphy Park and Lexington's City Park. The Tanglewood Volunteer Fire Department will also have a fireworks display in that community.
