New furniture store lifts permits for June

Aaron’s starts $100,000 remodel to old Dollar General

Another new business is coming to town, a sign of economic improvement. Aaron’s Furniture Store will be moving into the old Dollar General store located at 1312 W. Cameron Avenue after the building’s remodel is complete.

Rockdale’s Caffey Construct ion is doing the $ 100,000 project for Associated Properties Inc, according to building permits issued by Rockdale City Hall for the month of June. The building is approximately 7,400 square feet.

Permit numbers were up for the month, with $225, 565.11 issued in June, compared to $48,349 in May.

June’s numbers bring the fiscal year’s total, which started in October 2011, to $812,953.11.

The 2012 calendar year total is now at $717,903.11.

Permits are issued at Cit y Hall and reflect only construction in the city limits.

Cameron, reroof; Davey Meschwitz, 1400 O’Kelley, slabs (9x9, 10x12, 16x20); Robert Leopold, 2105 Alcoa, fence; Debault Welding for First Baptist Church, 240 Green, carport (12x24); Dale Henson, 705 Riley, demolish building; Gerardo Boussar t, 454 W. Belton, storage building/ porch.

Cameron, remodel; Windham Roofing for Russell Morton, 200 N. Main, reroof.
