Apache Pass open for fireworks use - Free Access
Even though there is no professional fireworks display in Milam County this Fourth of July, residents with fireworks will have a place to shoot their own.

No burn ban or fireworks restrictions for the Fourth
Facing what looks likely to be another summer of almost daily triple-digit temperatures, Rockdale has gotten some good news. The city water system should be back to its full four-well capacity soon, perhaps as soon as this weekend.
The city has been operating with just two of its four wells pumping, while the two at H.H. Coffield Airport were being rehabilitated. Full Story
Day care owner ‘guilty’
Life without parole levied in death of 10-week-old
KYLE—A Hays County jury on Monday returned a guilty verdict in the case of a former day care owner accused of capital murder in the 2010 death of a former Rockdale Junior-High band director’s 10-week-old son.
Judge Bill Henry sentenced Christina Suzanne Lyons a sentence of life without parole. Full Story
February chase fugitive indicted
Milam grand jurors return 25 true bills in Thursday session
A 36-year-old Milano man, who was the subject of a manhunt involving several law enforcement agencies in February, was one of 25 persons indicted Thursday by a Milam County grand jury. Full Story
MDD retaining attorney to ease possible conflict
Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) took steps Thursday to retain separate legal counsel in some cases.
Executive Director Tom Manskey presented a resolution for attorney Alan Bojorquez of Austin, a municipal law attorney, to be retained by the MDD in some circumstances. Full Story
The second of four planned welcome signs is now greeting US 79 motorists at the eastern city limits near the US 77 overpass. It joins a similar sign near Coffield Airport, US 77 and FM 487. More signs are planned for US 79 west and US 77 south. Signs are project of the Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD). Full Story
