Cameron police seeking drug suspect after chase
C a mer on p ol ic e , a nd l aw enforcement officers throughout Central Texas, are seeking a 53-year- old Cameron man in connection with a Monday chase and several drug offense warrants.
Kenneth Wayne Montgomery is being sought on warrants ra ng ing f rom posse ssion of drugs in a school zone to evading arrest in connection with the chase.
According to police, at 11:45 p.m. Monday an officer attempted a routine traffic stop on the driver of a Ford Expedition near Seventh Street and MLK Boulevard.
Police said after emergency lights were activated on the police cruiser the vehicle sped off.
They said and the suspect disposed of what was believed to be narcotics, including crack cocaine and marijuana.
Police said at one point in the chase, the suspect threw a large bag of what appeared to be narcotics to an individual who was identified to police.
The suspect then ditched the vehicle in the area where the pursuit began, and fled on foot, according to police.
The identity of the suspect was verified by the pursuing officer, and warrants were issued by Justice of the Peace Sam Berry.
Included in the warrants were charges of manufacture and deliver y of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, evading arrest or apprehension in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana in a drug free zone, and violation of parole out of Williamson County. As of Wednesday morning, Cameron plice said no arrest has been made.
