Outfielder named to two different teams
The post-season honors for Ethan Brinkley continue to roll in as the senior-to-be outfielder was named to two different all-area teams.

In the summer heat, hoops thrive indoors
While baseball and the onset of football dominate summer, there is some basketball being played as well.
The Rockdale girls participated in the Thorndale league, while the boys played in the Cameron league.
Participating in the Thorndale league is a combination of upcoming freshmen and returning junior varsity and varsity players from last year. Full Story
Getting used to the heat a good idea
Football gear to be issued at field house Aug. 6
Rockdale football coach Jeff Miller reminds any potential football player, not to wait until the last minute to start getting acclamated to the Texas heat.
Football equipment will be issued at the field house on Monday, Aug. 6, beginning at 7 a.m. sharp.
That will be followed by the first day of practice which is set to begin at 8 a.m. and continue until 11 a.m. Full Story
Three-way tie highlights Brown Santa tourney
CAMERON—A three-way tie for first place highlighted the second annual Brown Santa golf tournament.
The Milam County Sheriff’s Office hosted its golf tournament at the Cameron Country Club.
A team consisting of David Kolig, James Hudson, Gary Thweatt, John Stillwell, Mike Baca, and Robert Hudson came out on top after a one hole playoff and a chipoff for first place. Full Story
AAU fundraiser held for runners Crawford, King
A barbeque fund-raiser will be held this weekend to help send two Rockdale youths to a national track event.
Twelve-yearolds JaQuayln Crawford and Frances King have each qualified in two events for the AAU Junior Olympics National meet to be held July 30-Aug. 3 in Humble.
Crawford will compete in the 100 and 400 meter dashes. He is the defending national champion in the 400. Full Story
Tigers youth football car wash, BBQ fundraiser
The Rockdale Tigers youth football team will hold a sausage wrap and brisket sandwiches fundraiser on Saturday, July 28 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Rockdale Veterans Park.
They will also hold a car wash at Rockdale Signs and Photography from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. These fundraisers are to help buy new equipment for the boys. Full Story
