Monday starts workouts for football players, spikers
Football gear to be issued at field house Aug. 6
The biggest sign that summer break is over...high school football and volleyball practices begin. And that is exactly what will happen Monday across the state of Texas.
Football equipment will be issued at the field house on Monday, Aug. 6, beginning at 7 a.m. sharp.
That will be followed by the first day of practice which is set to begin at 8 a.m. and continue until 11 a.m. Full Story
Talented draw in 33rd annual Rockdale Open
Youth winners crowned in first ever night tourney
John Swords of Temple is the men’s singles champion of the 2012 Rockdale Open held over the weekend at Veterans Memorial Park. He defeated David Cuebas of Taylor in the finals, 6-0, 6-1.
Swords is currently ranked in the top spot of the Texas United States Tennis Association’s 45 and under men’s singles. Cuebas is a four-time Rockdale Open champion. Full Story
Three Tigers named to TSWA state baseball squad
Brinkley 2nd team; Pounders, Stewart honorable mentions
Three Rockdale Tigers were named to the 58th annual Texas Sports Writers Association/ Collin Street Bakery Class 3A all-state baseball team last week.
Senior-to-be Ethan Brinkley was named to the second team outfield crews.
Tiger pitcher Tate Pounders and second baseman John Stewart were both honorable mentions. They both graduated from RHS in May. Full Story
Little rah-rahs all grown up, now teaching my sweet girl
I t seems like yesterday that my neices Hayleigh and Keely were short little bits, attending rah-rah camp, wearing homemade cheerleading outfits and yelling for the Eagles. Now they are both varsity cheerleaders at Milano and teaching my little Hannah how to yell for those Eagles. Full Story

Alumni tourney raises $2,300 for RHS golf program
Eddie Boyd hits hole-in-one during fund-raiser event
Thirty players and volunteers helped raise $2,300 for the Rockdale High School golf program during Saturday’s second annual alumni golf tournament held at the Rockdale Country Club. The event was sponsored by the club’s Mens Golf Association. Full Story
RHS grad Satcher new Buckholts AD, coach
Chad Satcher, a 1993 graduate of Rockdale High School has been named the new boys athletic director and head football, boys basketball and baseball coach at Class A Buckholts ISD.
Satcher was the defensive line coach at 2A Hempstead last season when the Bobcats reached the state title game, falling to Melissa 28-15. Full Story
