Tiger Camp for RJH 6th graders set Thursday

Rockdale Junior High sixth grade “Tiger Camp” will be held Thursday, Aug. 9, according the counselor Angela White.

The camp will run from 9-11 a.m. and is for all incoming sixth graders, White said.

Rockdale band parents meeting set Friday

Rockdale ISD director of bands Adr ian Acevedo has announced a band parents meeting.

It is a mandatory meeting for all marching band participants and their parents/guardians.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10 at the band hall.

Coker makes U of H spring Dean’s list

HOUSTON—Christina Coker of Rockdale has been named to the University of Houston Dean’s List for the spring 2012 semester. Makes the University of Houston Spring 2012 Dean’s List.

Coker is currently seeking a bachelor’s of science in retailing and consumer sciences.

Bulldog band sets Sunday funder-raiser

THOR NDALE—The Thorndale ISD band will host a fish fry dinner and silent auction will be held on Sunday, Aug. 12 at the Thorndale Firemen’s Hall.

Serving will begin at 11 a.m. and the menu will include fried catfish, beans, noodles, cole slaw, bread, pickles, onions and dessert for $8 per plate. Dine in or take out plates available.

All proceeds benefit the Bulldog Band.

Johnson to graduate from North Texas

DENTON—Asa Branch Johnson will graduate from the University of North Texas on Aug. 11 with a bachelor’s of busin ess admin- stration degree in human resources and organizational behaviors.

When in Rockdale, she at tended Springfield Baptist Johnson

Church.

Johnson is the niece of Hazel Santee and Rudolph of Rockdale.

RJH band hot dog social on Sept. 11 at city park

Rockdale Junior High band members will host a hot dog social on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at Veterans Park starting at 6 p.m.

Plates will cost $3 each.

Band instrument drive scheduled Aug. 28

Have an old band instrument you have been wanting to get rid of? Why not donate it to the RISD band program.

The Rockdale Junior High band will hold an instrument drive from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28 at the RJH band hall.

St. Paul 7th–8th grade sets D.C. trip fundraiser

The St. Paul Lutheran School 7th and 8th grade classes will hold a BBQ Chicken dinner fundraiser at the Fireman’s Hall on Sunday, August 26 for their class trip to Washington DC.

To go and Dine-in Plates will be available for $8, according to Lori Fisher, spokesperson.
