Willingham places at national Beefmaster show

BRYA N— Jacob Willingham of Milano, competed at the 2012 Junior Beefmaster Breeders Association (JBBA) C onvent ion a nd Nat iona l Junior Heifer Show all-around at the Brazos County Exposition Complex on July 23-28.

The all-around competition placed the top 10 individuals with the highest points from the showing season in three different divisions. Willinghams is in the senior division for 15-21 year olds. Competitions included: judging contest, herdsman quizes, showmanship, public speaking and national heifer show.

Willingham placed 10th in the all-around with a seventh place in public speaking (out of28participants). Healso won second place with his Class 3 Early Winter Heifer and sixth place with his Class 8 Early Spring Junior Heifer.

He was also elected as a JBBA Board of Director for District 4.

The convention included a leadership conference and had a beef industry seminar/tour which included a tour of the veterinary centers and the Bovine Center at Texas A&M.

The 2013 C onvent ion and National Show will be held again at the Brazos County Expo Complex the third week in July.

Willingham is the son of Jay and Darla Willingham and will be a senior at Milano High School.
