One of Rockdale’s newest business ventures made a $2,000 donation to one of the town’s longest-running organizations Monday. Rockdale Resources, which is drilling oil wells near H. H. Coffield Regional Airport (see page 1A), made the contribution to the Milam Adult Resource Center (MARC). Full Story
20 draw terms in district court activity
CAMERON—Twenty persons drew terms last week in 20th District Court, according to Prosecutor Kerry Spears, who listed case dispositions as follows:
• Billy John Hosea, 34, Schertz, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance (less than one gram), two-year state jail term, probated four years, successfully complete out-patient treatment, $140 restitution. Full Story

Two hurt, extensive damages in crash
Two Cameron men were taken to Scott & White Hospital, Cameron, after a two-vehicle collision Saturday night on US 77 near Minerva.
Trooper Donald Delukie said vehicles involved were a 1992 Acura, driven gy Chad Stanford, 35, and a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup operated by Jairo Campa, 19. Full Story

Rockdale Resources Corporation employees at storage tanks in new ‘Rockdale Field’ near Coffield (city) airport. Ten local persons are employed, five wells have been drilled so far with the potential for some 50 more wells if the first five production figures are solid, company officials said. Alcoa water well request hearing delayed for month
Sept. 11 likely re-scheduled date
A hearing by the Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD), originally scheduled for Tuesday (Aug. 14) has been postponed, probably for a month.
POSGCD directors were to have gathered in the district’s Milano office to hear the aluminum company’s request to drill 24 new water wells on land it owns southeast of Rockdale. Full Story
Buckholts police chief report expected Thursday by council
BUCKHOLTS—A decision on the future of Buckholts Police Chief James Blackmon could come as soon as Thursday when the Buckholts City Council meets at 5:30 p.m. at the Town Hall.
Blackmon was suspended a month ago after he was accused of falsifying paperwork. Full Story
City-wide garage sales ahead Sept. 8 in Rockdale, Thorndale
Rockdale will have company this fall for its traditional citywide garage sale.
Thorndale is joining in the action. Both towns will have citywide garage sales on Saturday, Sept. 8.

GISD ‘open house’ set Aug. 23
Gause ISD will be an “Open House” from 5- 7 p. m. Thursday, Aug. 23. There have been a lot of changes (all for the better) taken place this summer, so even if you don’t have a student there come and see all the work that has been done.

Gause CIP laying plans for 31st Founders Day
GAUSE—Gause Community Improvement Program (CIP) will sponsor its 31st annual Founders Day on Saturday, Sept. 1 at the community picnic tables near the Gause cemetery.
