Texas has increased sales tax revenue for 28th straight month
AUSTIN—Texas Comptroller Susan Combs sent out $632.1 million in August local sales tax allocations last week to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts. That is up 4.2 percent compared to the same time in 2011.
Combs said that state sales tax revenue in July was $2.05 billion, up 10.1 percent compared to July 2011. Full Story
Texas sales tax holiday to cash in this weekend
State’s consumers to save $64.8 million according to comptroller estimates
The state’s annual sales tax free-weekend is set Friday through Sunday.
This year, shoppers will save an estimated $64.8 million in state and local sales taxes during the holiday, according to Comptroller Susan Combs.

Friday deadline to apply for tax amnesty
Businesses have only a few days remaining to take advantage of the Texas Fresh Start tax amnesty period, which ends on Aug. 17, according to Susan Combs, comptroller.
“The amnesty is a chance for businesses to clear up their tax records and save money by not having to pay penalty and interest on tax reports they had failed to file,” she said. Full Story
