Tuesday orientation replaces RHS fish camp

Rockdale High School will hold a Freshman Orientation and Parent Night from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (August) 21.

Teachers and administrators will be available to answer questions and provide information relating to high school success.

Upperclassmen will be available in the rotunda to lead campus tours and distribute freshmen class schedules.

“This event will replace the annual ‘Fish Camp,” Principal Joey Geletka said.

Geletka said the Freshmen Teacher Team will provide detailed information including behavior expectations, dress code, the appropriate use of technology and an introduction to Project Based Learning during the first day of School which is Monday, Aug. 27.

Bakken earns degree from Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION—Buckwind Blue Bakken, of Milano, received his degree from Texas A& M University during commencement ceremonies held Friday at Reed Arena.

Bakken received a bachelor’s of science degree in sociology with a minor in geography.

Project Graduation 2013 meets Monday, Aug. 20

Rockdale High School’s Project Graduation 2013 will have a meeting Monday, August 20 at 6:00 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.

All RHS seniors and their parents are encouraged to attend.

“Please bring any support shirt orders and money you may have to turn in,” said Debbie Brinkley, spokesperson. For more information, contact Brinkley at 446-6060.

The group is still taking orders for the 2012-13 Tiger support shirts.

RHS seniors need to pick up order forms from Brinkley 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at Rockdale Building Materials Center.

Contact any RHS senior if you are interested in purchasing a support shirt, Brinkley said.

RISD orientation, ‘meet the teacher’ nights set

Orientation sessions for incoming sixth and ninth graders at Rockdale ISD have been set. Sixth grade orientation will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21 at Rockdale Junior High. Orientation for ninth graders at Rockdale High School is set at 7 p.m. on Aug. 21.

“Meet the Teacher” nights at RISD’s intermediate and elementary campuses have also been set, both for Thursday, Aug. 23.

The event will from 5-6:30 p.m. at the intermediate school with classrooms assignments and other informational booths available.

The elementary event will be held from 5:30-7 p.m.

Students at both campuses are encouraged to bring their school supplies to the “Meet the Teacher” events.

St. Paul 7th-8th grade sets fund-raiser

The St. Paul Lutheran School 7th and 8th grade classes will hold a barbecue chicken dinner fund-raiser Sunday, Aug. 26 at the Fireman’s Hall for their class trip to Washington D.C.

To go and dine-in plates will be available for $8, according to Lori Fisher, spokesperson for the event.

RJH band hot dog social September 11th at park

Rockdale Junior High band members will host a hot dog social on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at Veterans Park starting at 6 p.m.

Plates will cost $3 each.

Band instrument drive scheduled Aug. 28th

Have an old band instrument you have been wanting to get rid of?

Why not donate it to the RISD band program?

The Rockdale Junior High band will hold an instrument drive from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28 at the RJH band hall.

Milano PATCH Club collecting box tops

MILANO—Milano PATCH Club has started collection of “Box Tops for Education” as a fund-raiser for the school.
