On behalf of the Rockdale Independent School District, I would like to welcome you to a new school year. We are excited about seeing our students and are looking forward to Monday, Aug. 27, for the first day of school.
I want to remind our readers if you are looking for information about a campus or the district, please utilize our website www.rockdaleisd.net, our Facebook page or our Twitter site. The web site provides phone numbers of campuses and departments, campus handbooks, the Student Code of Conduct, district policies, athletic schedules, future events, district news, campus and teacher web pages and numerous other important pieces of information.
Our website has been updated recently to allow you to navigate through important information. A “Back to School” link will provide you with enrollment information, transportation department contacts, lunch and breakfast prices, school hours and “Meet the Teacher and Orientation Nights” that occur this week.
We want to improve how we communicate with parents and our community. We need your contact information so we can utilize our School Messenger system to provide you with updated news. We also want you to be involved with your children’s academic progress. Your child’s weekly grades can be viewed through the Parent Portal in our Skyward Family and Student Access system.
Our district is blessed with supporters of public education. Our children’s educational experiences were deepened last year because of our volunteers. I want to invite you to participate in our volunteer program. If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity, please contact the campus that you are interested in assisting.
Your child is important to us and your child’s success as a student and as a person is the reason Rockdale ISD exists. Our major purpose is to ensure that your child learns and is equipped for their future. Our theme this year is to provide “Student Centered Schools, Future Ready Students.”
We are committed to reaching higher student academic achievement levels and helping students value learning. Through academically rigorous and “real-world” relevant curriculum, Rockdale students are being prepared for their success now and for their future.
With the combined efforts of a highly qualified staff, concerned parents, a supportive community and capable students, the Rockdale educational community will reach the high goals of excellence.
Again, welcome back students, parents, and Rockdale community to the 2012-2013 school year, and thank you for all of your efforts to make this coming Monday the best first day of school for our students and staff.
