CAMERON—Funeral services

for Ladis Marek Jr., 82, of Cameron were held Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at St. Monica’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Emilian Foltyn and Rev. Dimitrij Colankin officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron. Mr. Marek died Saturday, Aug. 25, in a Cameron nursing facility. He was born Sept. 28, 1929, in Cameron to Ladis and Viola (Marek) Marek. Mr. Marek was a graduate of C.H. Yoe High School, attended Southwestern University in Georgetown and the University of Texas. He received his master’s degree from the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University. Mr. Marek was a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving as staff sergeant. He married Theodora Henderson. Mr. Marek was retired from Citizens National Bank as a trust officer after 27½ years of service and then worked at the First National Bank, serving as vice-president and trust officer and was on the board of directors. He was church organist for

both First Presbyterian Church and St. Monica’s Catholic Church. Mr. Marek was a member of the Knights of Columbus and past member of V.F.W. Ben Milam Post No. 2010, Karem Shrine, Scottish Rite and San Andres Lodge AF&AM No. 170. His daughter, Anne Marie Marek, preceded him in death in 1981. Mr. Marek is survived by his wife, Theodora Marek of Cameron.
