Locklin Cemetery Assn.

THORNDALE¬≠— Locklin Cemetery Association will meet at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Senior Citizens Center in Thorndale.

“Officers will be elected and a progress report will be heard on the cemetery beautification, remapping and other improvements,” said Nancy Graham, secretary.

Music at Chriesman

Jimmie Maze and the Milano Playboys will be at the Chriesman Community Center from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, according to Royce Barber, spokesman.

“Traditional country music is featured, admission is free and food is available,” Barber said. “This is a alcohol-free, tobacco-free event.”

Chriesman is located between Milano and Caldwell on FM 1363 off SH 36.

Milano Playboys musicians are Jimmie Maze, guitar; Barber, fiddle; John Griner, vocals and guitar; Mr. and Mrs. John Sefcik, vocals and guitar; Glenn Landrum, guitar and vocals. Jimmie Bodecker is master of ceremonies.

Grief support meetings

Square dance club

THORNDALE— Kountry Squares

Black Bridge Festival

DIME BOX—The annual Black Bridge Festival sponsored by the Dime Box Lions Club will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5-6, highlighted by the 35th annual Dime Box Mini Marathon 10K (6.2-mile run), plus a two-mile walk and a barbecue cookoff.

Other events: parade, craft and swap booths, classic cars, quilt display, tractor show, 42 tournament, live music and rodeo play day. A stew supper and street dance will be held Friday.

The Mini Marathon will start at 9 a.m. Saturday followed by food and games. Proceeds benefit the Lions Club and Black Bridge Park.

Senior bowlers needed

Senior bowlers are needed for the fall season at Leesure Lanes in Giddings. The senior mixed league will meet at noon on Monday, Sept. 10. Following the meeting, the league will begin bowling at 1 p.m.

Buckholts VFD fundraiser

BUCKHOLTS—There will be an enchilada dinner fund-raiser to benefit the Buckholts Fire Department on Sunday, Sept. 16 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. or sold out, at the fire station.
