St. John’s to hold garage sale here on Saturday

St. John’s United Methodist Church plans to be part of the community-wide garage sale on Saturday, Sept. 8. Fellowship hall doors will open at 7 a.m.

St. John’s is located at 1700 Summit, at the corner of Hillcrest and Summit.

‘5th Quarter’ set Friday at Meadowbrook Baptist

Meadowbrook Baptist Church Fellowship Hall (across from the main entrance of Rockdale High School)) will hold “5th Quarter” youth fellowships immediately following varsity football home games this season. First event will be this Friday.

“These events are for students 6th through 12th grades, and everyone is invited,” said Ryan Warner, youth minister at Meadowbrook.

Rising Star sets 105th anniversary, opening

Rising Star Baptist Church, 1022 Texas Street in Rockdale, will hold its 105th anniversary and homecoming and also the grand opening of its RSBC Worship Center at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16.

“The public is invited to join us for this celebration,” said Rev. Royal Johnson, pastor.

Forest Grove sets homecoming Sept. 16

Forest Grove Christian Church will hold its annual homecoming Sunday, Sept. 16 with a meal to follow the 11 a.m. morning worship, according to Lance Walch, minister. The public is invited.

Aglow Lighthouse to meet September 13

Rockdale Aglow Neighborhood Lighthouse will meet Thursday, Sept. 13 at Rockdale General Store, 1201 W. US 79 in Rockdale. Fellowship and refreshments will be at 6:30 p.m. and the program at 7.

Guest speaker will be Max Evans, pastor of Living Water Ministries. He serves as an advisor to Comanche Aglow Lighthouse as well as district support for Aglow International.

“Everyone is invited to bring a friend and hear this special presentation,” said Sabrina Thompson, Aglow Lighthouse publicist.

St. Paul students set bake sale for Sunday

THORNDALE—St. Paul Lutheran School’s 7th and 8th grade students will hold a bake sale before the 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. church services Sunday, Sept. 9.

Proceeds will go toward their trip to Washington, DC next year. “They are actively trying to get that trip paid for and are looking forward to going,” said Angie Becker, spokesperson. “They will appreciate everyone’s support.”

Next men’s breakfast at Apostolic Faith

An ecumenical Christian men’s breakfast fellowship is held from 7 to 8 a.m. each second Tuesday, the location rotating between several local churches.

Next breakfast will be held on Sept. 11 at Apostolic Faith Church, 500 West Davilla Street.

“All men of the area are invited to attend,” said Bill Avrett, spokesman.

RSBC women’s study held each Sunday

HOPE group prayer meets first Sundays

CAMERON—“Hear Our Prayers Every where” (HOPE) hosts a prayer meeting at 3 p.m. each first Sunday of the month on the east side of the Milam County Courthouse in Cameron, spokesperson Debbie Schulze has announced.

St. Mary’s School fund-raiser Sunday

TAYLOR—St. Mary’s Catholic School’s annual fall festival will be held Sunday, Sept. 9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus hall in Taylor.
