Keen

Services for Pete Alford Keen, 98, of Rockdale were held Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at Forest Grove Christian Church in Forest Grove and burial followed in the Keen Family Cemetery near Forest Grove. Pastor James Diamond and Pastor Dennis Smith officiated.

Mr. Keen died Sunday, Sept. 2, at his home in Rockdale.

He was born Feb. 12, 1914, in Rockdale to Peter and Ida (Alford) Keen.

Mr. Keen was a Rockdale High School graduate.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 to 1945, during World War II and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant.

He married Edna Myrl Parton on Nov. 26, 1942, in Thorndale.

Mr. Keen was a lifelong farmer and member of Forest Grove Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna, on Sept. 15, 2009; a son, Kenneth Lee Keen, on Oct. 28, 2004; two sisters, Inez (Wallace) Greenwood and Alice (Clyde) Holliman; and two brothers, Lawrence (Della Mae) Keen and Lee (Raye) Keen.

Survivors are a son, James “Jim” Parton Keen and wife Janice of Rockdale; a daughter, Thana Grace Kemper and husband Otto of Brenham; and six grandchildren, Tina Bartsch and husband Brad, Kristi Moreland and husband Billy, Jennifer Keen, Jamie Maurer and husband Wesley, Steven Kemper and wife Candice and Tammy Keen; also, eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Rod Spence, Claude Spence, Jakob Keen Moreland, Colton Tate, Scott Gentry and Morris Kyle.
