Rising Star to hold grand opening Sunday

Rising Star Baptist Church, 1022 Texas Street in Rockdale, will hold its 105th anniversary and homecoming and also the grand opening of its RSBC Worship Center at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept 16.

“The public is invited to join us for this celebration,” said Rev. Royal Johnson, pastor.

Post-game ‘5th Quarter’ at Meadowbrook Baptist

Meadowbrook Baptist Church Fellowship Hall (across from the main entrance of Rockdale High School)) hosts “5th Quarter” youth fellowships immediately following varsity football home games this season.

“These events are for students 6th through 12th grades, and everyone is invited,” said Ryan Warner, youth minister at Meadowbrook.

Forest Grove to hold homecoming Sunday

Forest Grove Christian Church will hold its annual homecoming Sunday, Sept. 16 with a meal to follow the 11 a.m. morning worship, according to Lance Walch, minister. The public is invited.

Aglow Lighthouse to meet Thursday

Rockdale Aglow Neighborhood Lighthouse will meet Thursday, Sept. 13 at Rockdale General Store, 1201 W. US 79 in Rockdale. Fellowship and refreshments will be at 6:30 p.m. and the program at 7.

Guest speaker will be Max Evans, pastor of Living Water Ministries. He serves as an advisor to Comanche Aglow Lighthouse as well as district support for Aglow International.

“Everyone is invited to bring a friend and hear this special presentation,” said Sabrina Thompson, Aglow Lighthouse publicist.

Gospel lessons ahead at R’dl Church of Christ

Rockdale Church of Christ 1522 West Cameron Avenue, will conduct a series of gospel lessons presented by David C. Watson of Benchley.

The lessons will be presented Sunday through Friday, Sept. 23-28 at the church meeting place in the Waymar Plaza.

Meeting times are: Sunday morning, 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.; Sunday evening, 6 p.m.; and Monday through Friday at 7:30 p.m.

“Please come and bring your Bible and Mr. Watson will also be available to speak with you privately during this week, if needed,” said Charles Gant.

Next men’s breakfast at First Presbyterian

An ecumenical Christian men’s breakfast fellowship is held from 7 to 8 a.m. each second Tuesday, the location rotating between several local churches.

Next breakfast will be held on Oct. 9 at First Presbyterian Church, 1600 Alcoa Avenue.

“All men of the area are invited to attend,” said Bill Avrett, spokesman.

RSBC women’s study held each Sunday

HOPE group prayer meets first Sundays

CAMERON—“Hear Our Prayers Everywhere” (HOPE) hosts a prayer meeting at 3 p.m. each first Sunday on the east side of the Milam County Courthouse in Cameron, spokesperson Debbie Schulze has announced.

Pleasant Retreat sets annual chili supper

THORNDALE— Pleasant Retreat United Methodist Church will host its annual chili supper starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept 29.

Chili will be sold by the pint, quart or bowl, along with hot dogs, Frito pie, ice cream, pies, cakes and cookies.

The event will also include a live auction.

To get to the church from Thorndale, go 7.5 miles south on FM 486 and turn left on County Road 458. There is a church sign 1/4 mile on the right.
