Cotton

Funeral services for Clara Morris Cotton, 96, were held Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Chaplain Gary Roe officiating. Burial followed in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mrs. Cotton died Wednesday, Aug. 29, at her son’s home near Black Jack.

She was born Aug. 23, 1916, in Burleson County to John and Rose (Hamby) Morris.

Mrs. Cotton grew up in Black Jack and lived most of her life there as a homemaker.

She married Edward Anderson Cotton on Oct. 2, 1931, in Groesbeck.

Mrs. Cotton was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 11, 1968; a daughter, Deaner Ray, on Dec. 13, 2009; her parents; a brother, O.J. Morris; and four sisters, Joyce Busa, Belle Bronson, Doris Fuqua and Bonnie Mays.

Survivors are two sons, Condale Cotton and wife Christina of Black Jack, Dalebert Cotton and wife D’Rinda of Ninilchik, Alaska; four daughters, Lowene Morgan and husband Gene of Lewistown, Montana, Glen Cot ton of Lexington, Christine Beard of Rockdale, Estelle Wampler and husband Charlie of Farmington, Missouri; and a brother, Billy Jack Morris and wife Ann of Black Jack; also, 22 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Gregory Strelsky, James Beard, Robert Cotton, Billy Jack Morris, Edward Cotton, Joshua Cornelius, William Whitecross, David Von Rosenberg and Austin Ritchie.
