Funeral services for Gerald Dexter Worrell, 59, of Rockdale were held Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at Elgin Funeral Home in Elgin with Billy Bob Cox officiating. Interment followed at Lawhon Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Worrell died Tuesday, Sept. 4, surrounded by family and friends.

He was born on July 2, 1953, in Connersville, Indiana, to William Dexter Worrell and Margaret Ann Simmons Worrell.

Mr. Worrell was a self-employed building contractor and carpenter.

Survivors are a daughter, Whitney Ann Worrell of Rockdale; his girlfriend, Linda Pollard; his mother, Margaret, and stepfather, Richard Evans of Rockdale; his father, William Dexter Worrell of Connersville, Indiana; three sisters and brother in-laws, Irene and husband Ronnie Nester of Columbus, Indiana, Diana and husband Bill Moon of Elgin, Vinita and husband Mitch Lovings of Bryan; two brothers and a sisterin law, Daryl Worrell and wife Vickie of Kodak, Tennessee, Melburn Worrell of Rockdale; also, numerous nieces and nephews.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
