Smithville jumped out early and held the Rockdale Lady Tigers at arm’s length the rest of the way in a 25-18, 25-19, 25-9 victory Tuesday night in Smithville.

Lisa Vest led the way for the 6-14 Lady Tigers with seven kills, eight digs amd an ace from the service line.

Middle blocker Shelby Evans reeled off five kills, eight digs and two aces.

Rockdale fell to Burnet 25-21, 25-18, 25-18 Friday in the Lady Tigers first home game of the season.

Evans punched out 10 kills, five digs and four blocks to lead the way.

Samantha Muston pounded out five kills and logged four digs, while Amanda Boyd dished off 17 assists and Morgan Fischer worked for 11 digs.

The Lady Tigers will take Friday off and resume play next Tuesday by hosting Hempstead.

They will tip off district play Sept. 21 at Navasota.

In junior varsity action, the Lady Tigers fell to Smithville 27-25, 25-27, 25-11.

Kourtney Roddam and Maxie Vann led the way with six points each and Emily Wagner four points.

They also fell to Burnet 24-21, 25-16 as Kalli Hicks served up 11 points in both games.
