Resisting arrest charge filed after incident last week

A 25-year-old Rockdale man was charged with resisting arrest Sept. 11, after an incident involving Ofc. Steven Cooper.

Lt. J. D. Newlin said Diamond Anthony Ramos was released from the Milam County Jail after posting $3,000 bond.

Newlin said Cooper was not injured during the incident.

OFFENSES—Police are investigating a Houston Street breakin that resulted in the loss of a skill saw.

Police are also investigating a theft and two domestic assaults. Two assault arrests were made.

COUNTERFEIT—Police were called to a financial institution Tuesday morning to investigate passing of counterfiet money.

“It appeared that the person who had the bills received them in change at a location that is not in Milam County,” Newlin said.

WRECK—Extensive damages, but no injuries, were reported in a one-vehicle accident at 2:38 a.m. Sunday on south FM 908 inside the Rockdale city limits.

Police listed the driver as Stacy Diestel, 34, of Rockdale.

NO WRECK—Police have pulled the wreck report started last week after a patrol car operated by Ofc. Brandon Tess collided with a dead hog in the road near the US 77/79 overpass last Tuesday.

“There was really no damage to the vehicle, so we don’t actually consider this to be a motor vehicle crash,” Newlin said.

Tess was not injured. Police theorized the animal had probbaly been previously struck by an 18-wheeler or some other large vehicle.

SERVICE CALLS—During the past week, officers responded to 133 calls for service and 98 calls through the 911 system.

CITATIONS—Traffic tickets issued during the past week included 26 for speeding, six for no MVI sticker, four for operating a vehicle with expired licence plates, two each for driving while license invalid, failure to maintain financial responsibility, running a stop sign and traveling the wrong way in a one-way street (school zone) and one each for failure to report change of address or name and use of a cellular device in a school zone.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
