A Lexington woman apparently escaped serious injury Friday afternoon when her car slammed into the Ham Branch bridge abutment on Ackerman Street (FM 487). Rockdale Police Ofc. Steven Cooper said Michelle Bales’ 2000 Hyundai was north bound at 1:34 p.m. when it struck the bridge in the 600 block of Ackerman and spun into the roadway, blocking traffic. Full Story

Proposed 5-cent increase avoided with strong values
School taxes in the Rockdale ISD aren’t going up 5 cents as planned.
They’re going up 1.34 cents after certified taxable values in the RISD came in much higher than expected earlier in the summer. Full Story

Historic Apache Pass will be the place to welcome in fall Friday and Saturday as the second annual Central Texas Outdoor Expo unreels beside the San Gabriel River.
