SCAR Y MOMENTS

Reporter/MIke Brown Reporter/MIke Brown A Lexington woman apparently escaped serious injury Friday afternoon when her car slammed into the Ham Branch bridge abutment on Ackerman Street (FM 487). Rockdale Police Ofc. Steven Cooper said Michelle Bales’ 2000 Hyundai was north bound at 1:34 p.m. when it struck the bridge in the 600 block of Ackerman and spun into the roadway, blocking traffic. Rockdale volunteer firefighters and an AMR ambulance crew responded. Bales, who was checked over by paramedics at the scene, sat on the porch of an adjacent Ackerman Street residence and watched volunteers, including Herbie Vaughan (center) and Eric Towns attend to the accident scene. Extensive vehicle damage was reported and traffic was diverted around the accident to Main Street, then back to Ackerman.
