THE RISING

Pastor Royal Johnson Pastor Royal Johnson Rising Star Baptist Church parishioners celebrated the dedication of their beautiful new 9,083-foot facility on Texas St. Saturday evening with music, special guests and testimony.

Three years in the making, the slab was poured in July 2009 and the majority of the construction work was done by members of the congregation.

“We bought construction materials as we could,” says church deacon L.C. Richards.

Money was raised through music concerts, golf tournaments, prize drawings and of course, donations.

The 105-year old Rising Star Church had been in its old building across the street since 1963, which had been moved from its original location in the Tracy community and built in 1924.
