Bizarre break-in at elementary Friday morning
Charges are pending afer a bizarre break-in at the cafetorium of Rockdale Elemenary School before classes began Friday morning. Police told The Reporter a male subject, who was taken into custody while apparently hiding in the school, shattered glass to gain access to the cafetorium while being chased from his motel room about a block away. Some Rockdale ISD teachers may have been gotten a surprise when they looked at their first paychecks of the 2012-13 school year.

Central Texas Outdoor Expo a big hit
Second annual event includes cookoff, contests and the Cavalry
The second annual Central Texas Outdoor Expo sponsored by the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce has been deemed a success by organizers.
Estimates are that around 3,500 people attended the event held Friday and Saturday at Apache Pass, located on FM 908 north of Rockdale. Full Story

A funny thing happened during the Rockdale-Liberty Hill contest Friday night.
A 6-Man game broke out.
In the highest combined-scoring game in Rockdale football history, Liberty Hill literally ran away from the Tigers 76-35 at Tigerland Field Friday night in front of a crowd that may have suffred from whiplash en masse, watching both teams run up and down the field. Full Story

Jobless numbers down for the month
Milam County sees decrease of almost full percentage point
AUSTIN—Milam County’s unemployment rate dropped almost a full percentage point compared to last month according to numbers released by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) on Friday. The county’s jobless rate is at 8.1 percent compared to 9.0 percent for June and July of this year. Full Story
