Eiland

Services for Melvin B. Eiland, 89, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, in Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Bushdale Cemetery near Rockdale. Pastor Jack Chelf will officiate.

Visitation is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at the funeral home.

Mr. Ei land died Monday, Sept. 24, in Cameron Nursing Center in Cameron.

He was born Jan. 9, 1923, in Rockdale to Marcus and Lena (Menn) Eiland.

Mr. Eiland attended school in the Gay Hill community, then in Rockdale.

He was a veteran of World War II.

He married Hallie Sicko on Oct. 12, 1953, in Cuero and they have lived in Rockdale since 1954.

Mr. Eiland was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockdale.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Marcus Leander Eiland; and two infant children, Beverly Jean and Gary Wayne Eiland.

Survivors are his wife, Hallie Eiland of Rockdale; a son, Melvin C. Eiland of Rockdale; two daughters, Patricia Marrs of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Angela Eiland Tynes Bairfield of Rockdale; and a brother, William “Bill” Eiland of Milano; also, seven grandchi ldren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Tynes, Billy Bob Eiland, Boyce DuBois, Elroy Sicko, Harry Sicko Jr. and Steven Bairfield.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Naumann, Roger Naumann, Mark Eiland and Isaiah Tynes.
