Building permits down for month, fiscal year

The City of Rockdale’s 2011-12 fiscal year numbers are above the $1 million mark, but down slightly from last year.

Permit values total $1,169,505.11 for the fiscal year that began in October 2011. That is down compared to $1,218,841.19 last year.

Values at the end of the 2010 fiscal year were at $1,046,927.

Permit numbers were down for the month, with $37,000 issued in September, compared to $144,000 in August.

Permits are issued at City Hall and reflect only construction in the city limits.

Permits issued for the month of September were: Blas Lepe, 430 N. Main, inspection fee; Miller Starnes Chevrolet, 229 N. Wilcox, demolish building; Lewis Sign for Aaron’s Furniture Store, 1312 W. Cameron, five signs and new pole; Tassie Pendleton, 402 S. Wilcox, covered patio.

Also, Terry Thompson, 641 N. Main, roof; Lone Star Construction for Pecan Street Church of Christ, 406 Pecan, metal building (50x30); 5 Starr Car Wash, 1471 W. Cameron, addition to building; Joe Barbo for Martha Kammerzell, 523 Murray, carport (12x20).

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
