Wariner, Restless Heart make return apperarances to Fair

Chances are great that the Rockdale Fair headliner for 2012 will be met with huge, appreciative crowds.

It’s happened before. Steve Wariner headlined the Fair in 1985. Restless Heart appeared in 2008.

Wariner will be the Fair’s Saturday night headliner Oct. 20 for an 8:45 p.m. to 1 a.m. dance at the par pavilion.

His special guest star that night will be Sunny Sweeney.

Restless Heart will headline the Friday night dance Oct. 19.

The 37th annual Rockdale Fair & Rodeo will unreel Oct. 18-20.

It will be preceded by one week by the Miss Rockdale Fair Queen and youth pageants, set for Oct. 13 in the RHS Auditorium.

The children’s pageant begins at 11 a.m. and the fair queen event at 7:30 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes before each of those times.

HEADLINERS—Wariner has released 18 albums and three have gone gold.

He’s had 19 number one hits and 50 songs have made the county charts.

Acclaimed as one of the world’s great guitarists, he is one of onlyfour musicians to be given the Certified Guitar Player Award by the legendary Chet Atkins.

Wariner has won four Grammys, most recently in 201o, and is a member of the Grand Old Opry.

Restless Heart was formed in 1984 and re-formed in 2003 after the departure of some of its original members.

The group has had six number one hits and placed 26 songs on the country charts.

TICKETS—Season tickets for the 2012 Fair are now on sale from fair queen contestants and at 10 locations around Milam County.

The three-day tickets are priced at $20 for adults, $10 for those 8 to 12 and 55 and over. Ages seven and under are admitted free.

Season tickets admit the holder to all Fair events.

One-day ticket prices at the gate will be $15 for adults, $10 for those 8 to 12 and 55 and over with children seven and under admitted free.

Rockdale—Citizens National Bank and drive-through, Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, Brookshire Bros., City Hall, Rockdale Federal Credit Union.
