Ducks, Tigers reunite for 100th anniversary of rivalry
While you shouldn’t count on Rockdale and Taylor fans converging hand-in-hand at midfield while singing “Reunited”, it’s good to have the Ducks back on the docket.
The once-heated rivals will meet for the 80th time Friday at Memorial Stadium which commemorates the 100th anniversary of their first meeting in 1912. (Taylor was victorious 6-0). Full Story

Lady Tigers head into second round of district
Third playoff spot still up for grabs between four teams
The Rockdale Lady Tigers dropped a pair of matches in District 18-3A play last week to drop to 8-17 overall and 1-5 in league play.
Tuesday night, the Lady Tigers dropped a hard fought battle in five sets at home to Navasota, 10-26, 17-25, 24-23, 26-25, 15-11 after leaping out to a 2-set advantage. Full Story

Milano opens up by hosting district favorite Burton
MILANO—With a week off and all of its top personnel healthy, the Milano Eagles look to make a run at a district title and a third straight trip to the playoffs.

Dog defense comes to the rescue in big road victory
No. 21 Thorndale opens district on the road at Weimar
SAN SABA—With the offense down with the turnover bug, it was up to the Thorndale defense to make sure the Bulldogs had a successful recovery.
Unable to score themselves, Thorndale didn’t allow San Saba to cross the goal line in a hardfought 9-7 road victory Friday night at venerable Rogan Field. Full Story

No. 16 Lady Eagles, No. 22 Lady Dogs remain tied for first place
The No. 16 ranked Milano Lady Eagles stayed put in this week’s Texas Girls Coaches Association’s Class A volleyball poll with a pair of wins over the week.
Milano (23- 6, 9-1) hosted Granger on Tuesday night at Gevena Paceley Gym, winning in straight sets 25-6, 25-17, 25-7.

Last-second touchdown pass keeps seventh grade perfect
Gunner Miller collaborated with Jacqualyn Crawford on a 60-yard touchdown pass as time expired to lift the Rockdale seventh graders past Hillsboro 34-28 to keep them undefeated for the season.
In a back-and-forth affair, the 4-0 Tigers outlasted the Eagles in a flurry of fourth quarter scoring. Full Story

Lions Club raises $2,000 for youth scholarships
The Rockdale Noon Lion’s Club 22nd Annual Scholarship Golf Tourney was held Saturday, and raised approximately $2,000 for college scholarships for local youth. Full Story

Hunter education class set for Oct. 27 and 28
A Hunter Education Class will be held in Rockdale October 27-28.
The class will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 27 and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on October 28.
All classes will be held at the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department Training Facility in Rockdale.
