Lions Club raises $2,000 for youth scholarships

The Rockdale Noon Lion’s Club 22nd Annual Scholarship Golf Tourney was held Saturday, and raised approximately $2,000 for college scholarships for local youth.

“ T h e Lion’s Club, including tourney committee Allan Mill- er, Randy Fletcher, Paul Dixon, Albert Jordan and Kathy Martin, would like to thank all of the sponsors and players for their generous support,” said Tournament Chairman Ron Montgomery.

“Special thanks to the Rockdale Country Club for such a beautiful Rockdale golf course and the country club tourney committee of Ben Ackley, Russell Campbell, Homer Mowdy and the country club staff for their help in preparation for the tourney,” Montgomery said.

Team winners were as follows:

1st place (59)—Ben Ackley, Jerry Cass, Kyle Cass, Cruz Reyes and Lee Dominguez

2nd place (62), determined by scorecard playoff)— Allan Jones, Mark Michalka, Eddie Boyd and Billy Galbreath

3rd place (62)—Russell Campbell, David Summers, James Ferguson, Tommy Grimes and Howell Wright

Prize winners:

Closest to the pin— Allan Jones

Most Accurate—John Youngblood

“Thanks again from the Rockdale Noon Lions Club for all who helped with the success of the tourney and all the players and sponsors who participated, the Rockdale Noon Lions Club appreciates you,” said Montgomery.
