City seeking public input on master plan
The City of Rockdale will hold two “come and go” public meetings to receive input on its proposed new master plan, according to City Manager Kelvin Knauf.
He said the public sessions are scheduled for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 30 and Nov. 8 at the Patterson Civic Center.
The city’s Planning & Zoning Board has been working on the master plan for more than a year.
“We’d like to see what the public thinks about what’s been prepared and we also want to hear any suggestions they might have,” Knauf said.
He said the informal sessions will allow interested persons to browse through the master plan’s different sections and write down their suggestions.
Downtown Association sets meeting Nov. 5th
The Rockdale Downtown Association will hold a membership meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, in the Patterson Civic Center, according to Chris Dyess, RDA president.
“Come and join us for fellowship, food and drink, hear our accomplishments and share your interest in the future of downtown Rockdale,” he said.
School trustees plan workshop for Monday
Trustees in the Rockdale ISD will hold a board workshop at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Central Administration Building, according to Supt. Dr. Howell Wright.
Only item on the agenda is a team-building session on board operating procedures.
No action may be taken during a workshop session.
Gause trustee election will be held on Nov. 6th
GAUSE—There are five persons running for three seats in the Gause ISD school board elections to be held Nov. 6. The community, which is not incorporated, holds no municipal elections so the district schedules trustee voting during the November general election.
Incumbents Henry Bonorden, Chris Cooper and James Todd are met by challengers Linda Hoppe and Tammy Smith.
Early voting will be held during weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 22 through Nov. 2 at the GISD front office.
Election Day voting on Tuesday, Nov. 6 will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Gause Community Center.
City boards schedule sessions for Thursday
Two City of Rockdale boards will meet in regular session Thursday at City Hall.
The Planning & Zoning Commission will meet at 3 p.m. to discuss and take any action necessary on the upcoming public meetings for the city’s new master plan and to discuss the Downtown Master plan.
Rockdale’s Park Board will meet at 6 p.m. to elect a chair and vicechair, take any action necessary concerning a proposed ribbon-cutting at Sumuel Park and review the Parks & Open Space Master Plan section which is to be a part of the new City of Rockdale Master Plan.
