Band program’s fall concert set Tuesday

The RISD Band Department will have its fall band concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, in the RHS Auditorium. The concert will feature the RJH Beginning Band, the RJH Symphonic Band, RHS Jazz Ensemble and the RHS Big Blue Band.

Big Blue Band at UIL contest this Saturday

The RHS Big Blue Band will compete at the UIL Region 18/26 Marching Contest on Saturday, Oct. 20 in Giddings.

The band will perform its UIL show, “The Great Locomotive Chase” at 4:15 p.m. at GHS stadium. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for students.

Wilde selected to Baylor student foundation

WACO—Annie Wilde, of Rockdale, has been selected to serve as one of only 100 members of Student Foundation at Baylor University.

Student Foundation is an organization that builds community-minded servant leaders by entrusting students with recruiting qualified students, raising scholarship funds and building goodwill among alumni and students.

PTO sets trick-or-treat hours for Oct. 31

Rockdale PTO has also set trick-ortreat hours for Halloween, according to club president Cheryl Blackstock. They are 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31.

PTO’s annual fall festival is Friday, Nov. 2 at the Rockdale Intermediate School. The event will run from 5:30- 7:30 p.m.

RISD iTigers to offer teen grief support group

The Rockdale ISD iTigers Program will offer a grief support group for teens ages 12-18 who are coping with the loss of a family member or close friend. The group is open to those who are just beginning the grief journey as well as those who have been on it for awhile.

The goal is to find healing through an oppor tunity to ask questions and share with peers who are going through the same experience.

The group with meet from 6-7:30 p.m. the first Thursday of the month beginning Nov. 1 in the Rockdale High School library. There is no charge and refreshments will be served.
