Benefit musical, 80th birthday celebration for teacher’s mom


A musical benefit and 80th birthday celebration for Rockdale native Annie Marie Ellison will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 at Blue Run Baptist Church, 215 North 16th Street in West Columbia. The event is being sponsored by Community of Love United Methodist Church of Angleton, Shirley Allen-Jenkins, pastor. Annie Marie Ellison is the daughter of the late Laura Mae Monroe or Rockdale and the mother of Annie Ray, Kerry Ray, William Ray and Joe Ray. Annie Marie Ellison is the daughter of the late Laura Mae Monroe or Rockdale and the mother of Annie Ray, Kerry Ray, William Ray and Joe Ray.

Minister Annie Ray’s mom spent 76 days in the hospital recovering from cancer, heart attack and multiple infections. She went into the hospital with three diagnosis and came home with nine more diagnosis. She now uses a walker to ambulate short distances. During that hospital stay she incurred extensive medical bills. She also needs other items to help maintain a better quality of life.

“The public’s help in this event is needed and will be greatly appreciated,” said Minister Annie Ray. Donations and pledges can be made by calling Minister Ray at 979-709-2080 if donors cannot attend the event. Any individual or groups wanting to sing or praise dance are encouraged to do so and also asked to contact her.
